Borrowing Information


  • Present your DCC SUNYcard each time you wish to borrow books.
  • Borrow up to five books at a time.
  • Normal borrowing period for circulating items is three weeks.
    • Hot topics books may be borrowed for two weeks with no renewals. 


  • Return books to the Circulaton Desk during library hours.
  • Return books to the outside book drop 24 hours a day. The book drop is located at the Creek Road entrance to Hudson Hall.


  • Renewals are permitted if all fines are paid.
    • Hot topic books may not be renewed. 
    • Books with hold requests may not be renewed.

Overdue Materials

  • Fines accrue at a rate of 10 cents per book per day, including weekends & holidays. 
  • Overdue notices are sent on the next business day after a book is due. 
  • Borrowing privileges are suspended until overdue materials are returned and fines are paid.

Lost or Damaged Materials

  • Report any lost or damaged items to the library as soon as possible.
  • Lost or damaged fees are determined on a case by case basis.
    • Minimum lost or damaged fee is $50 per book.
    • Maximum lost or damaged fee is the item replacement cost. 


DCC Alumni who wish to borrow library materials must apply at the DCC Foundation Office (Bowne Hall Room 103). Upon completion of the application you will be directed to Security where your I.D. will be issued. Each time you wish to borrow, you must present your DCC SUNYCard.

Access to Electronic Resources

Alumni may use subscription databases while visiting the library. See our complete list of databases at the link below.


Alumni borrowers may not: 

  • place holds.
  • place interlibrary loan requests.
  • borrow iPods, playaways or nooks. 
  • renew materials if fines are owed.
  • access library databases remotely.
