Borrowing Information


  • Present your SUNY ID card each time you wish to borrow books.
  • No limit on the number of items borrowed.
  • Normal borrowing period for circulating items is three weeks.
    • Hot topics books may be borrowed for two weeks with no renewals. 


  • Return books to the Circulation Desk during library hours.
  • Return books to the outside book drop 24 hours a day. The book drop is located at the Creek Road entrance to Hudson Hall.
  • Return books to any SUNY campus library. 


  • Renewals are permitted if fines are less than $10.00.
    • Hot topic books may not be renewed.
    • Books with hold requests may not be renewed.

Overdue Materials

  • Fines accrue at a rate of 10 cents per book per day, including weekends & holidays. 
  • Overdue notices are sent on the next business day after a book is due. 
  • Borrowing privileges are suspended until overdue materials are returned and fines are paid.
    • Your home campus will intercede on behalf of DCC upon request. 

Lost or Damaged Materials

  • Report any lost or damaged items to the library as soon as possible.
  • Lost or damaged fees are determined on a case by case basis.
    • Minimum lost or damaged fee is $50 per book.
    • Maximum lost or damaged fee is the item replacement cost. 
  • Privileges may be withdrawn given evidence of misuse.
    • Your home campus will intercede on behalf of DCC upon request. 

Program Overview & Eligibility

Open Access is an agreement among SUNY institutions that opens library resources on each campus to students, faculty & staff of all SUNY schools. To obtain SUNY Open Access privileges, bring your SUNY ID to the circulation desk to be registered for library access at DCC.

Access to Electronic Resources

Open Access borrowers may use subscription databases while visiting the library. See our complete list of databases at the link below.


Open Access borrowers may not:

  • borrow iPods, playaways, or nooks.
  • access library databases remotely.
  • borrow during intersessions if they are a student (faculty and staff may borrow throughout the year).
