What if Ritz Library doesn't have what I need?
There may be times that you need or want books that we don't own or articles that we don't have in our subscription databases. In most cases, we can get those items for you. Books will be delivered to the Poughkeepsie or Fishkill campuses, and digital articles will be sent directly to your email.
It is easy to borrow between SUNY libraries directly through the default search in RitzDiscovery, but you can also request materials from other library collections through Worldcat, which allows you to search library catalogs all over the world. Lastly, in the rare case that an item isn't available through another SUNY library or Worldcat, we can use an interlibrary loan service known as ILLiad.
In the pages that follow, you'll learn how to request and retrieve books and articles. If anything remains unclear, please ask a librarian for help.
Who can borrow items from other libraries?
Interlibrary loan services are available to current students, faculty, staff, and emeriti.
You must have a DCC ID card!
Students, faculty, and staff must have a DCC ID card to request items through interlibrary loan. The act of getting a physical ID card generates a library account for you. If you don't have a DCC ID card, please visit Campus Security to obtain one. ID cards can also be issued at DCC @ Fishkill.
